Ante natal and post natal classes  -   FitBack and Bumps

Ante natal and post natal educational exercise programmes for a fitter, healthier pregnancy!

Fitback and Bumps is a new ante natal and post natal educational exercise programme run by Chartered Physiotherapists, so expert guidance and instruction is guaranteed throughout, helping remove the fear women have about exercising during and after pregnancy.

Many women stop exercising during pregnancy because they are scared it might harm their baby, or they don’t know what exercise is safe or suitable.  However, research has shown that exercising safely has great benefits for both mum and baby.

If you are a new mum or mum-to be the FitBack and Bumps programme will help you to:
  • Exercise safely during and after your pregnancy
  • Reduce aches and pains associated with pregnancy
  • Reduce stress incontinence by strengthening your pelvic floor muscles
  • Improve your posture
  • Reduce pelvic and back pain by strengthening your core
  • Flatten your tummy after pregnancy
  • Make new friends and share your pregnancy experiences.
Each ante and post natal programme consists of 4 one hour sessions, incorporating exercises, stretches and discussions on different topics.

The exercises are designed specifically to support your changing body, with a special focus on your spine, abdomen and pelvic floor. Aiming to make you feel better, reduce back and pelvic pain during pregnancy and aid a quicker recovery after the birth of your baby. We will supply you exercises cards and an information booklet so you can continue your exercises at home or at the gym.

The ideal time to start the ante natal programme is in your second trimester.  This will allow you to gain most benefit.  However, it is possible to start the programme into your third trimester.

The post natal programme can be commenced once you have had your 6 week check with your G.P.
